BONDING

We stopped speaking to the rivers and the trees.  We lost our dialogue with Mother Nature and her protective embrace. Nature is speaking to us all the time. The link between our material world and nature has been undercover, under wraps, and invisible. We all need to understand the link between our material world, our habits, and look toward healing the Earth’s and planets’ wounds; making what has been hidden or invisible, visible. This requires a deep understanding of the micro and macro level consequences of human activities. Places that we love are disappearing or being harmed beyond recognition.  We have consciously or unconsciously placed ourselves as beings who are more important to nature. That our lives are more important than other sentient beings. This separatist viewpoint is archaic and simply no longer works. We are in ecological and environmental crisis.  Mother Earth is a rarity. She had unassailable truths that are reliable, constant, and everlasting.

Nature has a nerve center and this nerve center “mirrors” our human energies.  Neuroscientists refer to this as Mirror Neurons, whereby “my neurons “imitate, model, copy, or “mirror” your neurons. While no research has been done in relationship to the Earth, I believe mirror neurons work the same way with the Earth. I believe that part of mirror neuron phenomena is understanding how our walk influences and impacts natures energies. The neurons between us and the Earth “mirror” each other’s actions. When we get violent with our behavior so does Mother Earth through earthquakes or other natural disasters.

So what can we do? We can use this knowledge as leverage to make different choices, choices that produce more conscious choices and sustainability in our lives.  We can decolonize the big lie, the lie that told us we are separate from Nature. Through Earth-centered indigenous wisdom and ritual, we can unpack this detrimental and systemic oppressive paradigm that told us we are separate from Nature.  We have been in inner turmoil for a very long time. We have been in climate crisis for decades. We need to address the climate crisis inside our hearts. What is burning in you? What name do you call your wildfire? Where does your pollution come from?

Through sacred Earth traditions, we can repair the ruptures between us and the Earth. We can embolden a genuine relationship between us and the Earth. As you step into the inner work and you develop your awareness in nature, you will begin to see how we influence all of life and how all of life influences us. A key and critical feature for us to know. And when we know this, we initiate new choices that create greater sustainability in our lives, the lives of others and the life of the Earth.
